NCCPA Research Symposium
UNC Wilmington

Watson College of Education
Friday, February 13, 2015

Renewed calls for accountability in higher education have increased pressures for departments and programs across college campuses to identify the ways in which they contribute to the success of students.  The call for more effective and efficient measures of student success has been particularly strong from political and business leaders who view higher education as intimately connected to the economic prosperity of the region, state, and country (e.g., Our Time Our Future, 2013; Troop, 2014).  Amidst these growing tensions, institutions of higher education have persisted in their focus on supporting the academic and social development of students.

We invite session proposals that highlight the contributions made to supporting student development, engagement, and success at institutions within the Carolinas.  The Carolina Commitment to Higher Education will focus on meaningful initiatives undertaken by of our faculty, staff, and students in support of our institutional missions.  The symposium will provide a venue for practitioners, scholars, and graduate students to share best practices, research findings, and/or assessment results that demonstrate the ways in which our work empowers students.
