Our History

The North Carolina College Personnel Association was founded in 1966 and was then chartered by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) in 1971. In just under thirty-five years, NCCPA has emerged as a leader among the state divisions of ACPA. We are proud of our recognition of distinguished  service and achievement to the profession by ACPA:  Outstanding State/International Division (1990, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2010); Outstanding State/International Division Award for Innovation (1998, 1999, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2017); Outstanding State/International Division for Membership, Recruitment, & Retention (1991, 2010); Outstanding State/International Division for Innovation (1998, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2018); and Outstanding State/International Division Leader (2003, 2006, 2008, 2017).Our Mission

NCCPA, a state division of the American College Personnel Association, exists to provide leadership in the college student development profession, to contribute to the continuing education of student development educators, and to offer networking opportunities among its members.
